Course overview

Fire Safety is divided into five interactive modules:

Module 1 – the principles of fire, common causes of workplace fires, and how fires spread through buildings.

Module 2 – fire prevention and protection, detection and warning, means of escape, extinguishing fires, emergency arrangements and staff training.

Module 3 – fire classifications, types of firefighting equipment.

Module 4 – what to do if you discover a fire, what to do if you hear the alarm.

Module 5 – questions on essential information and procedures in your workplace.

Learners must pass a short multiple-choice assessment to complete the course.

What is fire safety?

Fire safety is the set of practices undertaken with the intension of reducing the risk of a fire starting and decrease the damaged caused by fire. 

How often should fire safety training be carried out?

Overall, fire safety training should be carried out by new employees and a refresher completed by all employees at least every 12 months, or if there are any series changes to the working environment. Fire drills must be completed at least once a year according to legislation. Certain personnel may be required to complete fire safety training on a more frequent base (for example OHS Managers).
