Primary Job Purpose
To drive the set-up, execution, follow up and evaluation of British Safety Council India’s (BSC) charitable programme aligned with the Group vision and purpose. They will achieve this through collaboration with corporate partners and other stakeholders, implementing impactful charitable programs that address health, safety, wellbeing and environmental issues across India.
Brief Description of Tasks
- Lead on the development of a charitable strategy for BSC India.
- Drive BSC Group charitable purpose, vision and strategy in India together with the India Managing Director.
- Lead and manage the set-up of all BSC India’s non-commercial charitable work, including associated budget, implementing systems for monitoring impact.
- Keep abreast of important changes in the India not for profit environment, priorities for wellbeing, health and safety that exist for working people as well as relevant media stories, regulatory and compliance developments and political initiatives that might align with and support BSC India’s charitable work.
- To seek out, bring on board and manage relationships with charitable partners across India, driving income to fund the BSC India charitable programme.
- Analyse charitable programme risks, implementing mitigation measures.
- Plan, support and attend key stakeholder consultation, co-creation, campaign and community events.
- Drive the launch and development of pooled funding from partner organisations.
- Oversee charitable contracts and agreements including reporting against income and outcomes thereof.
- Take the lead on establishing trusting and transparent relationships with charitable partners, to position BSC India as the partner of choice for future activity.
- Work with new and existing members, customers and partners to co-design, implement and promote BSC’s charitable activities, across all appropriate sectors.
- Work alongside commercial colleagues in India and UK to deepen BSC India reach and charitable impact across traditional and non-traditional core BSC sectors.
- Working with the Marketing and Communications Manager (India) oversee the positioning of the brand image and identity within the Indian market.
- Lead all aspects of the design, production and distribution of charitable collateral and branded materials, ensuring a consistent overall corporate look and feel.
- Deliver within agreed budgets.
- Manage external suppliers to ensure the delivery of a quality and cost-effective service, negotiating best value for money delivery on all work undertaken.
Health, Safety & Wellbeing
- To understand and carry out your own health and safety responsibilities in accordance with the management objective.
- To ensure your team, if relevant, understand their health and safety responsibilities and have an adequate level of health and safety competence (a copy of the health and safety competency framework can be found on the SMS) including amongst other aspects, understanding of good practice in relation to key risks such as lone-working and stress management, and the use of risk assessments.
Essential
Skills & Qualifications
- Degree level qualification in corporate social responsibility, social sciences or a related field
- Strong understand of different not for profit approaches in India
- Strong project management skills
- Excellent project management and organisational skills with strong attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills with a proven track record delivering charitable initiatives
- Proven ability to manage budgets and evaluate program outcomes
- Experience in partnership building and stakeholder engagement
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- Self-starter, able to work on own initiative
- Use of Microsoft applications.
- A proven track record of managing charitable activity within a recognised organisation.
- Experience of programme design, implementation, monitoring and reporting
- Experienced in building and managing strong relationships with external stakeholders.
- Experience managing compliance, performance and risk.
- Experience negotiating changes to contracts and agreements with stakeholders.
- Experience building networks or coalitions, ideally across diverse cultural contexts.
- Project management experience with budget responsibility.
- Budget administration and expenses management.
- Communication with a range of stakeholders
Desirable
- Knowledge of relevant health, safety, wellbeing and environmental issues
- Written and verbal communication skills in other Indian dialects (xxx)
- Salesforce CRM experience
- Working with international clients and stakeholders.
